My journey began in late 2014 when my father brought a camera home. Something clicked immediately. I became obsessed. By early 2016, an ambitious spark arose as I began to see opportunities everywhere. New doors were opening. I built a vision, committed to the path ahead and dedicated my time to developing my craft into the art of filmmaking. I spent my early years washing dishes in a pizza restaurant for $13 an hour, desperately saving every cent to upgrade my gear. Those hot, exhausting shifts ingrained one of the most valuable lessons I carry today -

“there are enough hours in a day, all you need is a desired passion for discipline”.

By sixteen, I landed my first interstate job. At seventeen, my first international one. At eighteen, I lived on a remote island in North Sumatra, Indonesia. At nineteen and twenty, I quit my day job to work in the camera department on tv commercials alongside experienced Directors and DOP’s. At twenty one, I launched Wilzen Cinematics and invested everything I had into my business. At twenty two, I continued growing collaboratively on film sets. And from twenty three to twenty six, I embarked on the adventure of a lifetime, documenting stories across the globe. One day I’d find myself on a boat in the Maldives, the next at London’s Royal Albert Hall. My life became a blur of airports, border crossings, buses, trains, boats, scooters and tuk tuks. The pace was electric but the unique experiences were unforgettable. I’d do it all again without hesitation.

To date, I’ve explored thirty six countries and still counting.

Off camera, I’m a family man who values my down time. I love surfing, trail running, wandering through markets, cuddling my nans dog, drinking coconut water and playing cards with mates.

Today, at twenty six, I’m living out my dream as a cinematographer. I’ve recently completed a world tour with a music artist and continue to chase creative projects with more energy and excitement than ever before.

It’s been a wild journey so far.
Rest at the end. Not in the middle.

Thanks for being here.
Wilzo.
